The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is asking those driving any vehicle on Prior Lake near the Wagon Bridge on Eagle Creek Avenue to use extra caution due to thin ice.
Public safety officials were called to that area on Saturday when a large side-by-side all terrain vehicle went through the ice underneath the bridge. Passengers were able to get out of the lake on their own, according to Scott County Patrol Sergeant Jacob Edwinson. The area has a long history of developing weak ice spots throughout the winter months.
“With the constant freezing and thawing, we’re seeing more open water and ice heaves,” Edwinson said. “No ice is ever totally safe.”
