Scott County officials have taken steps to ensure a popular cannabis event that made its debut last year will get to have an encore.
The county board approved Tuesday, June 3, an amendment to an existing use permit for Sever’s Festivals to hold a second “Doobie Dabbler” at its festival grounds in Louisville Township later this year. The 2024 event was held on the second weekend of September at the festival grounds on the corner of U.S. Highway 169 and County Road 14, just prior to the opening of the family-friendly Sever’s Fall Festival.
In addition to the cannabis-themed event, the county also gave Sever’s approval to pursue private events on the festival grounds during the use permit’s fall and winter timeframe. The company said in its request materials that the Sever Peterson family is hoping to grow its revenue to boost below projected results since moving from Shakopee to its current location in 2019.
With county and Louisville Township approval in hand, Sever’s awaits final approval from the state’s Office of Cannabis Management before finalizing details of the 2025 Doobie Dabbler.
