The Scott County Sheriff’s Office is seeking volunteers for the Emergency Management Volunteer Program (EMVP).
Emergency management volunteers are called upon when disasters occur within Scott County. Examples would include helping with shelter operations, sandbagging during floods, assisting with reunification efforts, caring for pets in emergency shelters, or supporting personnel working in the Emergency Operations Center.
Volunteers could be called upon to do the following:
- Receive training from county emergency managers
- Assist in preparedness, response and recovery during and after disasters occur
- Learn to operate specialized equipment
- Develop emergency management skills to use in real-world situations
