Since its inception, the Prior Lake News Compass has had the goal of filling the community’s news void by empowering its residents to cover its own happenings.
We have had a very successful launch of our website and weekly newsletter (you can subscribe to our newsletter on our home page by clicking here — it’s free, although we also encourage our readers to consider making a one-time or recurring donation). I attribute our early success to all those who have shared information and news tips with us, and to our volunteers. From our all-volunteer board of directors to the parents of Laker children that keep us apprised of their student’s activities, the News Compass is powered by Prior Lake’s greatest asset, its residents.
If you have enjoyed any of the reporting done on this website, it is because someone in your community spoke up and asked us to report on the subject. Most of the articles and photos you see on the website are created by members of the community, too.
My goal as editor has always been the philosophy of “Prior Lake covering Prior Lake.” In other words, as much as I enjoy telling the stories of this city, it is you, the readers, who will dictate the continued success of this news venture.
We ask you to continue to share your ideas for stories — or any feedback at all — with us at info@plnewscompass.org.
If you want to write an article or share a photo with us, you can reach me, editor Robb Jeffries, at editor@plnewscompass.org. I am more than happy to help coach potential writers or photographers; there is no experience required, only a passion for telling the stories of the people of Prior Lake is needed.
Thank you for reading, and I look forward to seeing you around town!
