Downtown Prior Lake was awash with color last weekend when chalk artists descended on Main Avenue and proceeded to create fun and unique images as spectators watched.

Several professional artists kicked off the event Friday night once the rain stopped. Sections of the street were cordoned off so each artist could stay in their designated area while chalking, and still answered questions from attendees, especially children, who were intrigued by the process as they tried to guess what the finished product would be. Youngsters were invited to create their own masterpiece Saturday afternoon, along with other amateurs.
Live entertainment, music, food trucks, games and face painting were also scheduled during the weekend.
Chalkfest has been hosted by the City of Prior Lake on an annual basis since 2019.
