The Prior Lake High School Parent – Teacher Association meeting will be held on Wednesday in the High School Auditorium. Three students participating in the Foreign Exchange program will be the guest speakers. They include Miss Romona Fernado of the Philippines, Miss Jacqueline Newland of New Zealand and Tom Netherton, a summer exchange student from Peru.
Since organizing Jan. 6, 1959, the Prior Lake Business and Professional Club has made numerous contributions and improvements to community projects. Charter members include Lambert Hennen, president; Earl Haferman, vice president; Wally Langhorst, secretary; Gene Didion, treasurer; and co-directors Karl Mickus and Robert Busse.

Pfc. William G. Dueffert of Prior Lake has been assigned to the Marksmanship Rifle division of Europe.

St. Michael’s Catholic School will celebrate Catholic Schools Week and the 25th anniversary of its founding. Staff member Mike Nickelson will also be honored during the week after he was named as a Teacher of the Year by the National Catholic Education Association.
The Prior Lake boys’ basketball team picked up its third win of the season with a 60-58 overtime win against Apple Valley. Tim Shimek led the Lakers with 26 points and 18 rebounds. Chris Rooney finished with 11 points.

A Twin Cities environmentalist filed a lawsuit in First Judicial District Court in Scott County, objecting to the Prior Lake City Council’s decision not to seek further environmental review on the Jeffers Pond development. Leslie Davis, the Minneapolis-based founder of Earth Protector, filed suit Feb. 2 against the city for its decision not to pursue an environmental impact statement. Wensmann Homes proposed a 336-acre mixed use development on land near county roads 21 and 42.
Prior Lake High School students Megan Brandland and Josh Whitmore received the Triple A Award for their accomplishments in academics, athletics and the arts.
The Prior Lake-Savage Hockey Association announced plans to host its first-ever “Skate the Lake” fundraiser on Feb. 20. The event would feature a three-mile course that would kick off in front of Captain Jack’s.
