Three new teachers will join the Prior Lake Elementary faculty for the 1965-1966 school term, principal Norbert Maertens announced this week. Miss Doris Blakeborough of Prior Lake will be teaching first grade. Miss Sharyl Kozak of Rudd, Iowa will also be a first grade instructor. Miss Sheryl Sebo of Winona will be teaching third grade.
Awards were presented at the monthly pack meeting of Cub Scout pack 331 by the new Cub Scout master Lyle Grimmer, assisted by Clifford Peterson. Den Two presented a skit on Mexico and also received the attendance award. Den Four presented the opening ceremony and Den One performed the closing. Following the regular meeting, the group joined the Boy Scout troop for entertainment. Special feature on the program was the Muh-Quah Indian Dancers of the Order of the Arrow Lodge Dance team of the Indianhead Council.
Commuter bus service by the Thorson Line is slated to begin service in Prior Lake on Monday, April 19, in addition to the regular service now in use. The commuter service would leave Prior Lake about 6:25 a.m. on a route via Highway 13 to the Mendota bridge and connect with downtown St. Paul at the Fort Snelling busway connecting to the Minneapolis main post office at 7:45 a.m. Return to Prior Lake will be the same route returning to Prior Lake about 6:20 pm. Tickets will be available at Andrews Drug in books of 12 for $10.

An entry in the weekly police log included this post: Prior Lake Police suspect that a Sears Craftsman vacuum may have been stolen from the police garage on Main Avenue. The incident was reported on April 1, with the machine valued at $100.
Prior Lake High School placed ninth out of 187 Minnesota schools competing in the American High School Mathematics Examination Program. The school’s ranking, according to Principal Fred Blaisdell, was based on the cumulative scores recorded by the top Prior Lake students taking the test, which included Bob Hallberg, Mark Keel, Jeff Matuza and Peter Kempf.
The City of Prior Lake took delivery of its first aerial fire truck. The 1985 American LaFrance unit with a 75-foot ladder cost $220,000. Its first use was scheduled in a controlled burn of the Vic Schroeder property at county roads 21 and 83 on April 14.

Prior Lake High School’s theater department will present “Into the Woods.” Rooted in familiar childhood fairytales, the musical will feature a variety of characters who learn they are not alone in their journey to find happiness.
Prior Lake City Council member Jim Petersen was among the first to put on water skis for the season to take a jaunt around Prior Lake, following ice out.
