A top administrator for Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools will be leaving the district for a superintendent position.
Dan Edwards, the executive director of academic services for PLSAS, will become the superintendent of the Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted public school district July 1.
The Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted district covers part of southern Wright County, just west of the Twin Cities. It has an enrollment of fewer than 1,400 students.
“We believe Dr. Edwards has the qualifications and skills necessary to be successful as the next superintendent at Howard Lake-Waverly-Winsted,” said Ben Borrell, HLWW school board chairperson.
Edwards, a member of the class of 1989 at Prior Lake High School, has held administrative positions with the district since 2021 following 15 years as principal of Twin Oaks Middle School. His work in the district began as a teacher in 1994.
“Throughout his career, Dr. Edwards has exemplified a deep commitment to academic excellence, student success and the power of education to transform lives,” said Micheal Thomas, superintendent of PLSAS. “His leadership has left a lasting and meaningful impact on our schools, our staff and our entire community.”
He holds a doctorate of education from the University of Minnesota and a master’s degree from St. Mary’s (Minnesota) in education. He did his undergraduate work at St. John’s (Minnesota) University.
