The Prior Lake High school girls lacrosse team finished season play undefeated and came home with the state championship trophy.
The Lakers defeated the Stillwater Ponies 13-8 last Saturday while playing at Eden Prairie High School. This was the third state title earned by Prior Lake, a goal their coach said the team had from the beginning.

“Their theme for the season was ‘We Over Me,’ and they knew it was going to take all of us to reach it,” Coach Heather Pierson said on Monday.
By halftime, Prior Lake built a 7-3 advantage over Stillwater, which was ranked the No. 3 seed coming into the match. Pierson credited much of the win to the experienced and senior-heavy team roster. Seven out of the nine seniors on the Laker team have committed to continue playing lacrosse at a National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) college.
“Most of these athletes have been playing with each other since their Prior Lake Athletics for Youth (PLAY) U10 days,” Pierson said. “They are an incredible group of athletes who all supported each other day in and day out this season.”
