Join the Prior Lake Garden Club in touring two metro gardens on July 17.
All are welcome to join the Prior Lake Garden Club for two free garden tours the evening of July 17.
The tour will include the gardens located at these locations:
The gardens of Elizabeth Hamilton, 8219 Russell Ave. So., Bloomington – 6 p.m.
Several gardens with ornamental trees and shrubs are part of this tour. Attendees will be invited to follow the path to perennial gardens that surround the terraced back yard. A second terrace includes a koi pond with a multi-level waterfall. Several hundred varieties of perennials are planted in both the shade and the sun.
Minneapolis Parks Longfellow Gardens, 3933 E. Minnehaha Parkway, Minneapolis – 7 p.m.
The gardens are located on the south side of Minnehaha Parkway. It is home to numerous trees, shrubs, perennials and annuals. Plants are chosen not only for their aesthetics but also their disease resistance, tolerance of site conditions and their ability to attract beneficial insects and pollinators. This is an oasis of calm above the hustle and bustle of Hiawatha Avenue. Street parking is available along 39th Avenue, one block from the gardens. There is also a small parking lot located at the garden on the south side of the parkway. Public restrooms are available at this garden location.
