
Jake Domer and Henry Michaelson pulled in a first place win in the qualifer tournament held on Prior Lake June 11.
Prior Lake High School’s fishing teams earned the top two places in the first state qualification round of the Southwest Metro division of the Minnesota Junior B.A.S.S. Nation Conference.

First place was awarded to the team of Henry Michaelson and Jake Domer. The total weight of their catch was 12.91 pounds. Coming in second was the team of Justin Didion and Noah Written with a total catch weighing 12.03 pounds.
The fish limit per team is five, and can include large mouth and small mouth bass that are a minimum of 12 inches in length. Only artificial lures are used during competition. Each boat must return to the designated weigh-in location prior to the time set by tournament officials.
High school bass fishing tournaments have teams of two students who fish while an adult boat captain operates the motor to ensure safety, but is not allowed to fish. Competitors fish in three qualifier opens throughout the summer. The top five teams after the three tournaments advance to the state championship.
Prior Lake was the site of round 1 competition. Round 2 was held on Lake Washington and Stella. The last round of fishing will be held on Clearwater Lake.
Other schools participating in the Southwest Metro Conference include Eden Prairie, Shakopee, Chaska/Chanhassen, Waconia and Holy Family in Victoria.
