Filings will close at 5 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 12, for those who wish to fill the Prior Lake-Savage School Board seat in 2026.
A special election will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 4. One person will be elected to fill the vacancy in the term expiring Jan. 4, 2027. Enrique Velazquez was originally elected to serve that term but resigned in 2023. Dan White, current board chair, was appointed to fill the vacancy.
Candidates who wish to serve must be an eligible voter, 21 years of age or older when assuming office, must have been a resident of the school district for 30 days prior to Nov. 4, and must have no other affidavit on file for any other office at the same primary or general election.
Affidavits of candidacy are available from the School District Clerk, Independent School District 719, 4540 Tower Street S.E., Prior Lake. The filing fee is $2. Affidavits must be filed with the clerk and filing fee paid by 5 p.m. on Aug. 12 for their name to be included on the ballot.
