PLHS German students visited Linderhof, one of the palaces built by King Ludwig in southern Germany in the late 1800s.
Prior Lake High School German teachers Mary Dooley and Lisa Becker shared photos and highlights from the German Club’s recent 12-day trip to Germany, Switzerland, France and surrounding regions. The presentation occurred during the “Laker Pride” segment of the Aug. 11 Prior Lake-Savage Area School Board meeting.
Thirty-two students and four chaperones participated in the trip that took place in mid-June. Trip highlights included climbing 650 steps up the world’s tallest steeple and walking across the world’s longest hanging bridge. The students also enjoyed a gondola ride up a mountain in the Alps, tasting chocolate and cheese in Switzerland, and visiting Europa Park – “Germany’s Disneyland.” Other big stops included Neuschwanstein and Linderhof, palaces that had been built in the 1800s by King Ludwig of Bavaria, the BMW World & Munich Olympic Park, Rothenburg Museums and Triberg Waterfall.
The student group was led by Dooley and Becker, along with chaperones Jon Ingalsbe and Sarah Durch. Student travelers included: Nikita Ginzburg, Jackson Baker, Andrew Hernandez Rodriguez, Conner McCoy, Garrett Thurston, Nick Huebener, Dallas Handevidt, Fini Butler, Eva Slagle, Avery Paur, Hanan Jama, Ben Millette, Ryker Egan, Nolan Goss, Joshua Hager, Brie Klepperich, Natalie Kraft, Ella Schoenbauer, Caitlyn Ruhland, Vivienne Rios Snyder, Carter Sepeda, Parker Moore, Oakley Olson, Cayden Snow, Cam Thompson, Graeme Tredinnick, Justin Tutty, Ryan Click, Marshall Gillis, Allison Dietrich, Phoebe Ha and Gretchyn Johnson.
Both teachers pointed out how well-behaved the students were throughout the trip. In fact, a number of people took the time during the trip to commend the students on their exemplary behavior. The teachers also thanked the school board members for giving the students the opportunity to travel the world and use their German language skills while they enjoyed this trip of a lifetime.
