It was a great day to play in the mud without parental objections!
The Muddy Buddy Run, sponsored by the City of Prior Lake’s Parks and Recreation Department, drew 97 youngsters who signed up for the event held last Friday, Aug. 15.
They definitely came ready to get dirty and have lots of fun.
City crews flooded the obstacle course in Lakefront Park for the memorable challenges and photo opportunities. Event favorites for children ages 5 through 12 included the foam pit and mud crawl (hence the name Muddy Buddy), but the slip-n-slide was again a big hit this year, according to Steve Hart, the city’s Parks and Recreation Manager.
Prior to the start of the Muddy Buddy Run, employees of the city’s public works department brought big trucks and equipment to the park and gave kids the opportunity to get a close-up look at the vehicles. Good plan, considering the equipment was brought in clean, and playing in the mud had not yet begun.
