The city’s annual hosting of Chalkfest will be on display Sept. 12-13 on Main Avenue in downtown Prior Lake.
The work of professional chalk artists will begin between 4 and 8 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 12. Matt McAllister will be playing live music that evening, while other activities are planned for youngsters.
Professional artists will be back on Saturday, Sept. 13, between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m., and will be joined by amateurs in creating artistic masterpieces on Main Avenue. Pre-registration for the latter is recommended, but walk-ups will be allowed if spaces are not filled. Live music will be provided by a Minneapolis jazz guitar duo. Children can enjoy getting their face painted and music provided by a “Kidsdance” disc jockey.
Several food vendors will be on site in the downtown area. Attendees should be advised that parking will not be permitted on Main Avenue, which will be closed to vehicle traffic from Friday at 6 a.m. through noon on Sunday, Sept. 14.
