The summer months have flown by and most children in the Prior Lake-Savage Area School District will return to the classroom sometime next week.
For the second year in a row, staff, students and parents were invited to the Back-to-School Celebration held at Prior Lake High School on Aug. 18. The event included food trucks, many activities for children, face painting, games and prizes. It was a fun, family-friendly outing filled with different activities prior to students returning to the classroom.
Student enrollment data for the start of the 2025-26 year was presented the following week during the PLSAS study session held Aug. 25. As of Aug. 11, the total student count including all grades was reported at 8,559. Near the beginning of the previous school year, 8,616 were registered in the district.
The district will again have a staggered start schedule over three days for all children in grades kindergarten through 12.

The first day of school for students in grades 6 and 9 will be Tuesday, Sept. 2. Those in grades 7 and 8, and 10 through 12 will return on Wednesday, Sept. 3. The youngest students, those in kindergarten through grade 5, will start school on Thursday, Sept. 4.
Teacher assignments and class schedules are posted on the district’s student information system, Infinite Campus, which provides parents, students and staff with online access to student-related information such as attendance, grades, test scores and assignments. Bus stop information can also be found on the site.
School supply lists for each grade are available at www.plsas.org/supplies.
Donations of school supplies will be accepted through Friday, Aug. 29, at the District Services Center located at 4540 Tower Street SE, Prior Lake.
