Lakeside Big Band will be the featured entertainment during the PL News Compass community event.
It was a year ago that the volunteer board of the Prior Lake News Compass announced local news was being brought back to the community.
Close to 100 residents showed up at Shepherd of the Lake Church to learn more about us. Most were not familiar with digital newspapers. They told us what news categories mattered most to readers. They had many questions and the meeting lasted an hour longer than we anticipated. We were grateful for their interest and feedback.
Thousands of area residents now follow us on a weekly basis through our Thursday newsletter and the PLNC website, and that number grows every day. We’ve been working hard to meet expectations. It’s time for an update on how we’re doing and what we have planned for Year #2.
We invite our loyal readers, volunteers and donors to join us on Tuesday, Oct. 21, for a free concert featuring the talents of Lakeside Big Band performing tunes from the Big Band-era. The group will play from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Prior Lake VFW.
During musical breaks, founders of the PL News Compass will talk about how far we have come, thank those who have helped us along the way, answer questions from those in attendance and share what’s next for our nonprofit volunteer organization.
We have big plans and need Prior Lake’s help to keep the momentum going. Join us next Tuesday to learn more!
