The Prior Lake girls’ soccer team punched their ticket to the state tournament after a 4–0 win over Chanhassen in last Tuesday’s Section 2AAA championship
On a cold, rainy night, the Lakers struck early and controlled the match from start to finish. Ellie Ohlmann scored twice, while Teagan Jurek and Ali Torres each added a goal. Jurek and Taylor Hendrickson assisted as the Lakers’ balanced attack kept the pressure on throughout. The defense once again held firm and goalkeeper Elisia Kucinski earned her second straight shutout to cap an impressive postseason run.
The Lakers won their three section playoff games with a combined score of 12-1 in one of the most difficult sections in the state. Prior Lake (13-5-1) earned the No. 5 seed in the Class 3A state tournament and will face fourth-seeded Lakeville North on Thursday, Oct. 23 at 7:30 p.m. at Monticello High School in the quarterfinal match.
The Lakers lost to Lakeville North 2-0 earlier in the season. The winner advances to the semifinals against either top-seeded and defending state champion Wayzata or St. Michael-Albertville at U.S. Bank Stadium on Oct. 29.
