The Prior Lake Police Department is located on Dakota Street.
Scott County prosecutors charged a Prior Lake man with two weapons charges Monday after threatening three people for being noisy while riding an electric scooter, according to court documents.
Prosecutors said Trent Fuller Olson, 33, pointed a gun from a balcony Friday night at Water Tower Place Condos at the people riding the electric scooter in the complex’s parking lot, according to charging documents. Olson faces seven years in prison and a $14,000 fine for each charge.
The court released Olson from jail Tuesday after he posted a $20,000 cash bond, with additional agreements he relinquish his firearms and have no contact with the victims. The court denied Olson’s request for a public defender.
A 36-year-old woman, who was unnamed in the charging documents, told police she, her stepdaughter and her 35-year-old friend were riding an electric scooter in the condo parking lot around 10 p.m. when she noticed Olson watching them. She said Olson told her to “have some f***ing sense.”
The 36-year-old told Prior Lake police she saw Olson cock a gun and point it at them. She said she confronted Olson, who responded, “I am well within my rights,” regarding the weapon.
Her 35-year-old friend told police she recorded the entire encounter on her phone, according to the charging documents.
Police tried contacting Olson, but did not receive a response, according to a Friday press release that did not name Olson. The Tri-County Tactical Team eventually contacted Olson around four hours later.
Inside Olson’s apartment, officers found four handguns and a shotgun, according to the charging documents. Olson told police he had come out with the shotgun, but did not threaten anyone. When asked about his intentions, Olson told officers he “pleaded the Fifth.” Police arrested Olson and took him to the Scott County jail.
Olson’s first appearance will be held via Zoom at 8:30 a.m. Dec. 12.
