This report is based on information submitted by the Prior Lake Police Department for responses between July 22-29. All calls for service may not be included; all subjects arrested and named are innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
July 22
Nuisance: A resident living on Woodchuck Trail reported to police at 2:53 a.m. that her home had been targeted by teenagers with toilet paper and other pranks during the previous four nights. Police were able to identify some of those involved and spoke with their parents.
Fraud: A resident living on Tower Street reported to police that they had located a “patient advocate” service on the internet, and had given her Medicare number after they had stated they would send her a knee brace. The brace was never received and she suspected the site did not offer legitimate services. The reporting party changed her Medicare identification number and was not out any money.
Medical: Police assisted with two medical calls on this day. Locations and times reported included: Harbor View Circle, 6:46 a.m., and Tranquility Court, 12:12 p.m.
Found: A person came to the Prior Lake Police Department at 5:43 p.m. to drop off a wallet they had found. An officer was unable to locate the wallet’s owner so he delivered it to the residence listed.
Suspicious Activity: A resident living on Timber Crest Drive called police at 5:58 p.m. to report neighbors who had lost electrical power were using extension cords to plug into other neighbors’ homes. The cords had been disconnected when police arrived. The officer attempted to contact both parties but there was no answer.
Civil: A Parkview Lane resident contacted police to request they pick up a cooler from his ex-girlfriend’s home. There was no answer when police called the party. A message was left indicating his request was a civil matter.
Suspicious: Police observed two vehicles and a group of kids at the Lakefront Park skate park at 10:20 p.m. They were advised of park hours.
July 23
Medical: Police assisted with three medical emergencies on this day. Locations and times reported include: 170th Street at 10:06 a.m.; Spring Lake Road at 8:11 p.m.; and Mystic Lake Boulevard at 11:27 p.m.
Fraud: A Pheasant Meadow Lane resident reported to police at 11:14 a.m. that she had received an email stating someone had photographs of her and she needed to send Bitcoin for them not to be dispersed. The reporting party said she knew this was a scam but wanted the information to be documented by police.
Nuisance: Solicitors were reported on Crossandra Street at 1:14 p.m. Police arrived and advised them they needed a permit from the city. Other reports of people attempting to sell magazine subscriptions were received that day from residents living on Woodside Road and Ridgemont Avenue.
Traffic Criminal: A 76-year-old Prior Lake woman was arrested at 2:55 p.m. on Highway 13 South for misdemeanor fourth degree DWI and gross misdemeanor third degree refusal to test.
Road Hazard: Police were called at 8:11 p.m. to 170th Street where a person was trying to remove a large dead snapper turtle from the roadway. Police provided the person with a pair of medical gloves.
July 24
Nuisance: A person living on Dakota Street called at 12:37 p.m. with concerns about E-Bikes, notably how fast they travel when driven on roads and sidewalks. Police advised him to call when he sees a concerning incident.
Suspicious: Police received a report at 2:30 p.m. from a lawn maintenance crew that was working on Fountain Hills Drive. The crew found an ATV stashed between a generator and tree, and thought it might be stolen. Police attempted to contact the registered owner without success.
Lock Out: Police received a report at 6:08 p.m. of a vehicle parked on Wilderness Trail with a child locked inside. Upon arriving at the site, the mother of the child had been able to unlock the door.
Obstructing: A 15-year-old male from Duluth was arrested at 9:18 p.m. on Mystic Lake Boulevard for gross misdemeanor obstruction of legal process, interference with a peace officer, misdemeanor underage consumption and a misdemeanor warrant for disorderly conduct.
Accident: A report of a hit-and-run accident was received by police at 9:52 p.m. The reporting party said a Black Tesla struck his vehicle on Eagle Creek Avenue and the driver did not stop.
July 25
Traffic: Police stopped a woman on Highway 13 at 2:51 p.m. for driving 44 mph in a 30 mph zone. The driver said she had been stung by a bee and was going to get medical attention. She declined medical attention from medics. The officer followed the driver who went home and not to a medical facility. She was given a verbal warning and advised to tell the truth.
Drugs: A 24-year-old man from Indiana was arrested by police at 3:14 p.m. for gross misdemeanor fifth degree drug possession and gross misdemeanor obstruction of legal process with force.
July 26
Parking: The owners of several vehicles parked on the grass at the Sand Point Beach access were cited by police at 11:42 a.m.
Accident: A accident occurred at 12:55 p.m. on Sage Way when the driver of a vehicle backed out of a driveway and hit another vehicle, causing minor damage to the rear passenger side bumper and taillight.
Assist: A Carver County woman reported at 4:43 p.m. that her log splitter had been stolen from her yard earlier that morning, which had been reported to the Carver County Sheriff’s Office. An Apple airtag was in the toolbox of the splitter and had been pinging on a regular basis around the metro area and Burnsville. The latest pings were registering in Shakopee, near Highway 101 and then eastbound on County Road 42, crossing into Burnsville. Dispatch was informed.
Traffic Criminal: A 39-year-old Prior Lake man was arrested for second degree DWI, driving while impaired, and third degree DWI, refusal to submit to a chemical test.
July 27
Traffic Criminal: A 30-year-old man from Savage was arrested at 12:48 a.m. for gross misdemeanor second degree DWI .08 or more within two hours, and gross misdemeanor second degree DWI with two or more aggravating factors, blood alcohol level of .18.
Found: Officers responded to a call at 5:56 a.m. on Fish Point Road involving a found puppy that had no collar. The dog was later transported to 4Paws.
Disturbance: Police responded to a physical disturbance reported at 6:43 a.m. on Bass Street. The two people involved provided conflicting reports about what had occurred, both appeared to be intoxicated, declined medical attention and reported no pain or injuries. Neither wanted to pursue criminal charges but wanted the incident documented. One party voluntarily arranged for an Uber driver and left the property.
Medical: Police assisted with four medical calls on this day. Locations and times of the reports included: Shepherd’s Path, 6:35 a.m.; Cambridge Circle, 11:23 a.m.; 160th Street, 11:52 a.m.; and Shore Trail, 3:41 p.m.
Warrant: Police received a report at 6:32 p.m. regarding a male refusing to leave a property on Priorwood Street. The man had a misdemeanor warrant registered with Scott County and was arrested at the scene.
July 28
Assault: A 28-year-old Prior Lake man was arrested at 12:13 p.m. on Mystic Lake Drive for felony second degree assault with a dangerous weapon.
Theft: A man living on Wilds Lane reported at 2:42 p.m. that a few of his belongings were missing, including a pair of tennis shoes and a money clip containing $600. The police officer investigating the incident found the tennis shoes. The resident said he would continue to look for the money before filing a theft report.
Fraud: Police were called to McKenna Road at 5:59 p.m. to investigate a report of fraud. The reporting party received a scam text and nearly sent money as directed. No information or money was sent. Police advised the party about current scams.
Public Assist: A woman living on Dakota Street called police at 2:28 p.m. with questions about a suspicious text that had been sent to her cell phone. Police determined it was a scam and told the woman to delete the message and not respond.
Road Hazard: A call was received by police at 9:55 p.m. regarding a tree blocking Stemmer Ridge Road following that night’s storm. The Shakopee Mdewakanton Fire Department was paged and provided assistance with its removal. Downed trees blocking roadways were also reported that evening on Mushtown Road, Franklin Trail, Crossandra Street, Peregrine Circle, Bluff Heights Trail, Parkview Road, Cardinal Ridge Trail, 160th Street, Fish Point Road, Willowwood Street and Minnesota Street.
July 29
Hazard: A resident living on Inguadona Beach Circle called police at 12:35 a.m. to report that a tree fell on power lines.
Property Damage: A man driving on County Road 82 reported at 7:28 p.m. that a golf ball hit by someone at Meadows Golf Club flew into the roadway and shattered the windshield of his van. The driver observed the golfers and one ran away when the incident occurred.
Accident: No injuries were reported after a deer ran out on County Road 82 near Fremont Avenue at approximately 11:50 p.m. The animal swiped the passenger side rear door, the front door and wheel well areas. Minor damage occurred but the vehicle was drivable.
