Spring tournament season is upon us, and the Lakers face strong competition in their section. Here is a look at how some of Prior Lake’s teams have fared heading into the postseason.
Baseball
The Lakers are in the thick of the 4A section 2 playoffs, with a quarterfinal game Wednesday vs. No. 3-seeded Chanhassen. The game will be played at 6 p.m. at Veterans Field.
Prior Lake entered the tournament as the No. 2 seed after beating Minnetonka 2-1 in 9 innings.

The Lakers followed up with a 3-2 win over Eden Prairie in the opening round, powered by strong pitching performances by Colten Gunderson (six innings pitched) and Zach Johnson. Jaeger Solis provided an offensive spark with a two-run double, while Ryan Block singled in the other run.
The Lakers’ overall record is currently 15-6.
Softball
Prior Lake ran into stiff competition in the section playoffs.
The season came to an end in the elimination bracket, falling to Eden Prairie 7-5.
Weather pushed back the start of the tournament by two days, and drew a tough matchup in Chanhassen in the opening round, losing 11-1.
The Lakers kept their season alive with a strong 9-0 win over Chaska. Prior Lake jumped out to an early 5-0 lead after two innings and kept adding on. Lily Hopkins lead the way with four hits, while Bree Holmes, Brynn Liddle and Kayla Olson had two apiece.
Holmes got the win after pitching four innings, giving up only one hit with three strikeouts. Olson struck out seven in the final three innings.
Girls lacrosse
The Lakers girls lacrosse team rode its “we over me” slogan to an undefeated regular season, going 13-0 and winning the South Suburban Conference.
Twelve different players have scored for Prior Lake, outscoring opponents 233-89. Abby Grove, Emerson Mattox and Tali Baldzicki led the team in goals.
Addie Christianson racked up 50 saves as the team’s primary goaltender.
The Lakers got the No. 1 seed in the section and host Apple Valley on Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Prior Lake High School.
Boys lacrosse
Prior Lake has drawn the No. 4 seed and will play Bloomington Jefferson in the opening round of the section playoffs at PLHS at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The Lakers are 8-5 and have been lead offensively by George Tocko with 21 goals and 13 assists. Griffin Marshall (22 points) and Griffin Noble (17 points) also help power the offense.
Hudson Young has been the goaltender for all eight wins.
