Community Plate, offering a free meal to all, will be held twice each month in 2026 at Shepherd of the Lake Lutheran Church.
Meals will be offered the second and last Thursday of each month from 5 to 6 p.m.
This is the second year of the partnership between Smoke Signals and the church. In 2025, nearly 1,250 individuals participated in the event. The service was expanded to twice per month this year, along with the option for boxed, take-out meals.
In addition to offering a warm meal for those in need, especially those experiencing food insecurity, the local initiative builds community through shared food and stories, with opportunities to volunteer or donate, according to Rosemary Frank, one of the key organizers of the event.
Volunteers and donations are always needed, according to Frank. Use this link to help at a future meal date.
