The Prior Lake News Compass has an opening for an experienced part-time editor for our growing digital platform devoted to delivering accurate local news and information about our community.

This is a part-time paid position (20 hours/week) with the potential to evolve into a full-time role. We are looking to hire someone who has community news experience, has worked with digital platforms and has the ability to give direction and lead a team of reporters, writers and photographers. The person hired must have a willingness to write stories, have a regular presence within the community, establish a growing network of contacts while developing open communication with local newsmakers and community leaders.

Do you have writing, photography skills or marketing skills? Volunteers are also needed to help the PL News Compass in those areas. Let us know if you’re willing to help and we’ll find assignments that fit into your schedule.

The Prior Lake community continues to embrace our efforts and appreciate the work our volunteer board has done in bringing local news back to the community. Since we began publishing in late 2024, we have experienced tremendous growth and now serve close to 3,000 subscribers through our weekly newsletter and website.
