The No. 4-seeded Prior Lake girls hockey team begins the Section 2AA playoffs on Friday, Feb. 7 , against #5 seed Shakopee at Dakotah Ice Center.
These teams have played twice this year, with the Lakers coming out on top both times. The last meeting was less than three weeks ago, a close 3-2 win.
“We are excited to play Shakopee as it is always a very competitive game and hard fought battle,” Prior Lake coach Kiersten Nelson said. Nelson also anticipates Friday to be “a close and competitive, fun game.”
Winner of this game plays the New Prague-Minnetonka winner next Tuesday at Braemar Arena at 6 p.m. for a chance at advancing to the section final.
The Lakers finished in third place of the South Suburban Conference in the regular season. Rosemount won the conference.

The points leaders for the Lakers are freshman Raya Mathiason with 25, sophomore Addison Heinicke with 23 and senior Abigail Grove with 20. The 14-10-1 Lakers have all their wins with junior Sophie Cappiello in goal with a nearly .910 save percentage.
