The filing period to fill two open seats on the Prior Lake City Council is now open through 5 p.m. on July 28.
Candidates who file will be listed on the Nov. 3 general election ballot. Those who are elected will serve a four-year term beginning Jan. 1, 2027, through Dec. 31, 2030.
Individuals interested in running for the city council must file an affidavit of candidacy and submit the required $5 filing fee no later than 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 28.
To be eligible, candidates must:
- Be an eligible voter.
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Have resided in the city of Prior Lake for at least 30 days before the general election.
- Not be running for another office in the upcoming election.
Candidate filing will take place at the City Clerk’s office located within Prior Lake City Hall, 4646 Dakota Street. Candidates are requested to contact Heidi Simon at (952) 447-9805 to schedule an appointment for filing.
The terms of two current city council members — Kim Churchill and Victor Lake — will end on Dec. 31, 2026.
