Liz Zimmerman has been named the new director of communications for Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools, and will lead the district’s strategic communications, community engagement, media relations and digital communications.

She served as the district’s communications specialist for five years, helping tell the stories of students and staff while strengthening connections with families and the community. Zimmerman has been hired for the director’s role following the resignation of Kristi Mussman, who accepted a position with the Hopkins School District as its director of communications and marketing.

Originally from Green Bay, Wisconsin, Zimmerman has called Prior Lake home since 2013. She and her husband have enjoyed raising their three children in the Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools community. Their oldest son graduated from Prior Lake High School in 2024, their middle son is currently a sophomore at Prior Lake High School and their youngest daughter is an eighth grader at Twin Oaks Middle School.
