Prior Lake earned an important road result on Nov. 29, battling back from a 5–2 deficit to finish in a 5–5 tie against section opponent Eden Prairie.
Eden Prairie opened the scoring midway through the first period, but the Lakers answered on the power play. Junior forward Lukas Grabow tied the game 1–1 off a setup from senior defenseman Jack Willmert and senior forward Parker Wenkus.
The second period belonged to the Eagles, who outshot Prior Lake 13–3. They scored twice early to go up 3–1 before junior forward Jacob Thomas cut the margin to one, finishing a pass from junior defenseman Aiden Lavigne and junior defenseman Mason Markell. Eden Prairie answered a minute later and added another late in the frame to end the second period with a 5-2 lead.
Prior Lake pushed back in the third. After a five-minute major on Eden Prairie, the Lakers scored twice on the power play.
Wenkus struck first, assisted by Willmert and junior forward Gavin Lind. Lind added another power-play goal off feeds from Lavigne and Grabow to make it 5–4.
With four minutes remaining, junior forward Tyler Sporney tied the game 5–5, finishing a setup from Grabow and Willmert. Prior Lake outshot Eden Prairie 14–7 in the period.
In overtime, the Lakers continued to generate chances, holding a 7–4 edge in shots, but neither team could find the winner.
Junior goalie Preston Kulics finished with 27 saves on 32 shots.
The Lakers return to Dakotah! Ice Center this week for two South Suburban Conference games. Prior Lake hosts Eagan at 7 p.m. Dec. 4 followed by a 1 p.m. Dec. 6 matchup against Apple Valley/Burnsville.
