Prior Lake topped South Suburban opponent Eagan on the road in their return to conference play Dec. 2.
The Wildcats struck first, scoring twice to take a 2–0 lead before the Lakers answered late in the opening period. Freshman forward Avery Olson broke through with her first varsity goal, finishing a setup from sophomore forward Maddie DuChene to cut the deficit to 2–1 heading into the intermission.
Eagan extended its lead early in the second period with a power-play goal to make it 3–1, but Olson responded again, burying her second of the night—once more assisted by DuChene—to bring Prior Lake back within one.
Olson wasn’t done. She completed her hat trick in the third period on an unassisted goal, tying the game at 3–3 and giving her the first three goals of her high school career. Later in the period, the Lakers took their first lead of the night when junior forward Addi Heinicke scored the eventual game-winner off a feed from freshman defender Rachel Chapman, securing a hard-earned 4–3 comeback victory.
In net, senior goalie Sophie Cappiello delivered another strong performance, turning aside 34 of the 37 shots she faced.
