Girls’ flag football is growing fast across the country, and local girls can now learn more about the sport through a flag football clinic for girls in grades 3 through 8 being held through Prior Lake Athletics for Youth.
Come join the Prior Lake girls varsity and junior varsity flag football team as they conduct the first-ever clinic on Saturday, May 2, at Prior Lake High School from 2 to 4 p.m.
The clinic is designed to introduce girls to the sport of flag football in a fun, supportive environment while connecting with other girls who share their excitement for football. Participants will learn the basic skills of the game, including passing, catching, route running and defensive techniques through engaging drills and activities. Athletes will play a variety of games and small competitions while developing confidence, communication and foundational teamwork skills alongside their peers.
The program’s goal is to expand awareness, create access and inspire confidence through the sport that is opening doors for girls everywhere. Girls’ flag football is rapidly growing in popularity, with new opportunities emerging for girls at the high school, collegiate and professional level.
This season will mark the first year of girls flag football at Prior Lake High School as they participate in the Minnesota Vikings’ sanctioned spring league. They will play a seven-game regular season in April and May, followed by the playoffs and state tournament in June. The sport will also be an official event at the 2028 summer Olympics.
There is no cost to participate in the clinic, and this link can be used to register.
