Amy Bullyan was elected chairperson of the Prior Lake-Savage Area Schools Board for the remainder of 2026.
Executive leadership positions were determined by split votes for each of the roles on Jan. 12 during the first board meeting of the year.
Bullyan had been the acting chair following the resignation of Dan White, former chair, who resigned from the board in late 2025. Board member Charles Johnson was also nominated for the position, but lost to Bullyan on a 5-2 vote. Johnson voted for himself and received support from board member Lisa Atkinson. Board members Dustin Smith, Jessica Olsted, Mary Frantz and Jessica Mason voted for Bullyan, who also voted for herself.
Olsted was nominated to serve as the board’s vice chair/clerk by Smith. She will fill that role through 2026 following a 4-3 vote. She voted for herself, and collected votes from Bullyan, Frantz and Smith. Mason was nominated by Johnson and voted for herself, joined by Atkinson and Johnson.
Mason was also nominated by Atkinson for the treasurer’s position, while Frantz nominated Smith. Mason was elected on a 4-3 vote. Mason voted for herself, joined by Johnson, Atkinson and Bullyan. Smith voted for himself and was supported by Frantz and Olsted.
Prior to the final vote, Atkinson asked that board members consider the importance of succession planning since the terms of several board members nominated for key positions will expire at the end of the year. Atkinson’s term expires at the end of 2026, as do those of Bullyan, Olsted and Smith. The board terms for Johnson, Frantz and Mason will continue through the end of 2028.
